New for 2026: The Living Art Experience
The Living Art Experience’s grand opening is April 3, 2026. Going forward, the museum is open every day when there is a live performance of The Great Passion Play. Specific dates and times can be found here. The Living Art Experience is a new exhibit at The Great Passion Play in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. It is America’s first artificially intelligent Christian art gallery, where sacred paintings literally come to life.
Not only does this gallery feature 165 original wall art and sculptures, but 60 of the paintings can be animated through the digital layers of both artificial intelligence and augmented reality.
Here’s how it works. When visitors arrive at the museum they can acquire both a hand-held tablet and a pair of headphones at the reception desk. Then, as they stroll around the museum, they can scan any paintings marked as living art. Special software in these tablets not only makes the paintings come to life, but with the headphones each visitor can hear an audio track telling the story about each piece of art.
Full-length monopods are also dispersed with the tablets, with which visitors can extend all the way to the floor, thus minimizing any fatigue that would occur from holding these tablets at eye level.
The Living Art Experience has three main galleries. The first is the Jack Dawson Seek and Find Collection, where the digital augmented reality layers reveal hidden symbols and images secretly buried within the paintings themselves.
The Classics Gallery features rare sacred artwork dating back to the 16th century.
Finally, museum visitors can circulate through The Statuary Hall, featuring fine artwork and sculptures dating as far back as the eighth century.
Admission to The Living Art Experience is free if you don’t want to take advantage of the augmented reality layer. However, there is a small rental fee if you want to walk around the gallery with the aid of one of the museum’s tablets.
Visitors can literally spend several hours in the museum, fully immersing themselves in the digital world of augmented reality.
