Beneath the Resurrection Experience, plans are underway for a new 1,700-square-foot Treasure Room, inspired by the historic chamber of the same name in Jerusalem’s Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
At the heart of this new space will be an extraordinary collection of biblical antiquities donated to the Great Passion Play by Dr. Bob C. Ross, author of Discover Israel and The Jewishness of Jesus. Dr. Ross has generously given his collection so these artifacts can be preserved, displayed, and used to help people better understand the biblical world. The collection includes tiles from the synagogue at Magdala dating to the time of Jesus, sand from the region associated with Moses and the burning bush, stone from Golgotha, olive leaves from the Garden of Gethsemane, a piece connected to the first-century Jewish Temple, and fragments associated with the tomb of Jesus. Together, these artifacts will give guests a tangible connection to the places and events they have read about in Scripture. The Treasure Room will preserve these remarkable pieces while helping the Great Passion Play continue its mission of bringing the Bible to life for generations to come.
