Special Projects

This is what we have been able to do with special projects at the Passion Play!

Picture
Picture

We've identified two major projects with the actual Passion Play for 2024 and 2025.

2025 Soundtrack Project: $150,000 Financial Need (FUNDED April 2024) -- Additional funds are needed to cover any unexpected costs

Read about the full project by clicking the button below. This project involves recording an entirely new musical score for the Passion Play as well as replacing the current vocal performances with all professionals.

Advice: Listen on headphones or a large sound system with subwoofer for the full impact. Below is a sample of the new prelude to the Passion Play.

Completion of Lighting Upgrade Interior Buildings (15 Lights Needed at a cost of $6,750 with the cost of cabling)

Picture
We have nearly completed upgrading the entire lighting system of the Passion Play. Only about 15 more lights need to be replaced (at a cost of around $450 a piece...these lights are Chauvet DJ EVE P-100 WW) in order for everything to be upgraded to state-of-the-art.

The interior scenes of the Sanhedrin Palace, Simon's House, Herod's Porch, and the Last Supper are currently either by small par30 outdoor lights or 1,000 watt par 64 lights controlled by a dimmer. Upgrading those lights will allow for complete DMX control with constant power.
  • 5 lights for Simon's House (3 for front and 2 for behind the Scrim for the disappearance effect
  • 4 for Last Supper (2 additional lights for front light and 2 behind the scrim)
  • 4 in the Sanhedrin Palace
  • 2 in Herod's Porch

Landscape Lighting - 2024/5 Project

TOTAL of Landscape Lighting Project - $9,494.94
  • Landscape Lighting Wire all the way from the front entrance to the Statue (5,170 ft needed--21 spools of 250 foot landscape 12/2 wire--$2,808.54 with connectors)
  • Actual Low Voltage Landscape Lights needed--Project budget is not finalized, but we anticipate around $4,376.40 to put 20 lights ($10.42 a piece) every 250 ft. Total number of low voltage spotlights needed will be 420 lights to complete the project. See pictures below of the difference that this type of lighting can make.
  • Twenty-one 300-watt transformers needed--$2,310
  • If we do railroad ties around the big field areas, it will take approximately 166 railroad ties at a cost of $3,320
In Spring and Summer of 2024/5, we will be working on a major landscape lighting project on the property. Most of the Statue area has already been completed.
Below are the landscape lights that we have used throughout the property with great success as seen in the pictures above! The solid color backlighting is done with the Melpo 120 volt fixtures. These are Bluetooth app controllable, but they are not low voltage.  We have enough of these throughout the property. We now need to focus on longer runs that use low voltage lights to be able to cover the entire property from the front entrance all of the way to the statue. It is about a MILE of landscape lighting (5,170 ft of wire).

Projection Mapping and Digital Projections - 2026 and Beyond

Read More about what Projection Mapping is
WHAT IS 3D PROJECTION MAPPING?Unlike 2D projection mapping, 3D projections project onto a three-dimensional object so that the image warps and acquires the shape of said object. This technology enables images to be projected onto irregular objects.
See full 2026 Projection project PDF
Looks like these below at Universal Studios and Disney World at Animal Kingdom and Star Wars are only achievable through the use of advanced projection technology and digital mapping.
At each of these venues, the digital mapping allows scenes to play out on the sets in the case of the castle above. The Galaxy’s Edge set remains static but creates a captivating immersive experience that is simply unforgettable. Because of the sheer footprint of the sets, the throw distance and the ambient lighting conditions, the projectors that Disney and Universal uses are Christie Crimsons at a cost of $150,000 each with $25,000 lenses. The cost is immense with over 10 projectors needed for Disney and Universal. Because we have shorter throw distances and control of all the lighting, we can achieve the same effects with fewer projects that cost less. See an example of what digital mapping and projections can do below.
With five Epson LCD Large Venue Laser Projectors with 4K enhancements, we can create amazing lightning effects and surreal set glow effects to bridge the space between set and spectacular theater. Each projector costs $25,000 with a $3,500 lens. A total of 5 are needed to achieve the same spectacular effects as what you see above. Additionally, we will need a media server to house the videos, access design templates, and  digitally map the set. The cost of the Hippotizer Tierra+ MK2 is around $20,000. To control and synchronize these effects, we would also need to upgrade our Grand-MA 3 lighting console to the flagship version. This full-size control room version allows us to seamlessly unite all performing systems without the risk of catastrophic failure.

Project Cost Breakdown

Picture
GRAND MA-3 FULL-SIZE CRV - $60,000 Total
Picture
5 Epson 3LCD Laser Projectors - $125,000 Total
Picture
5 Projection Lens - $17,500 Total
Picture
Media Server - $20,000
For a production length and scope of this size, production elements can be done for $15,000.
